About us

Modra joga (in Slovene it means blue or wise yoga) is a trademark of Miha Potočnik and Pilljae Kim, and their way of teaching Iyengar yoga. They are both fully dedicated to the cause of sharing Iyengar yoga knowledge around Slovenia and South Korea. They have Junior Intermidiate III and II certificate (highest in Slovenia). Later on also other teachers joined them (Tejka Pezdirc, Miha Sotlar etc.), who helps them teaching in their yoga studio Joga Votlina.
From September to June they are teaching yoga in Slovenia and in summer time in different yoga studios around South Korea.
Pilljae’s about Iyengar yoga:
Physically Iyengar yoga knows how each part of body should be. So one start to move the body. One can get better understanding of own body and what to work on. But then yoga is not just about the health and our body, it is not just about structure and components. In it there is energy, there is breathe, there is soul, there is existence. In practice we observe these things. We understand them and be with them.
Iyengar yoga gives physical instruction, it gives chance to look inward. But looking inward is personal thing, so there should be one’s own understanding and decision. But one shouldn’t stay fix in the idea… act, observe, understand and be with this. Each moment has importance and each task has importance.
Yoga can’t define everything. But it gives understanding of oneself.
Miha’s view on subject:
As you look for spirituality, you look for guidance. Guidance of »good« feeling, when you just know its right. When you are aligned with the nature (dhamma) nature shines through you.
Same is with asanas. You are guided by »good« feeling. You are not driven for sensual thing, doing it for pleasure. But for inner feeling of alignment with true Self.
As finding truth, Dhamma in life demands maturity, hard work of trials and errors, taking maybe countless lives to come closer. Same is with yoga asanas. There are countless trials, explorations before you come closer to real alignment with all the body layers. Alignment to true Self, nature.
But when it’s there you can straight away see it, feel it as it was always around. You can feel it by radiance he or she is showing, giving it away.
In beginning you don’t have ability to experience the truth, so you have to develop it, YOU have to develop. With rigorous practice. Developing inner sense of guidance, inner Guru. Discovering where to go, where is the path to the inner truth.
Same as musician has to master the instrument, you have to master the body, to get out the right tone, melody, symphony, aum.
Truth is beyond words, imaginations and ideas. It is existing by itself. No outside Guru can give you that. He can only show you the path, maybe give you some glimpse of it. But the road you have to walk by yourself. You yourself have to get tuned with it.
